On Saturday, May 6, 2017 Partners of Good Shepherd Jamaica presented another event where people listened, dined, and enjoyed themselves all for the cause of continuing the work of helping some of the less fortunate citizens of Jamaica.
“Partners of Good Shepherd Jamaica, Inc. (POGS) was established to help the poor and infirmed in Jamaica. Its aim is to maximize contributions of money, time, effort, and other resources towards helping those in unfavorable circumstances with social, educational, financial and health care opportunities. Through its contributions, POGS’s overarching goal is to improve the physical and mental well-being of those in various disadvantaged communities across Jamaica.
Kudos to Joy Dufour, President of Partners of Good Shepherd Jamaica, Inc. and her team for their ardent efforts to highlight and support many adults and children who are in dire need. I write because I have always been moved to help causes and charities as well, in whatever way that I can. I urge you to join in this movement.
Who will benefit?
Good Shepherd Foundation Medical Centre is one of several programs that will deliver benefits to needy individuals living in Jamaica. This facility is located on the property of the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Hope Hospice is located in Montego Bay and provides care and shelter for persons who are ill, HIV/AIDS infected and have no lodging and in desperate need of medical care. Since its inception, patients with the stigma of HIV/AIDS have had their dignity restored before making the transition to the glory of God.
Mustard Seed Communities (MSC) is dedicated to caring for the most vulnerable populations in Jamaica. Founded in 1978 as a home for children with disabilities on the outskirts of Kingston, Jamaica, the organization has since expanded and built additional facilities in Nicaragua, Dominican Republic and Zimbabwe.
We cannot support every cause or charity, but remember that support does not necessarily mean always donating money or buying tickets to a fundraising event—support also comes in the form of sharing and asking others to do so as well, giving of our time and talents, and motivating and mobilizing others to care.
